TRANSPORT for NSW has released a concept design of what Wyee train station could look like after its proposed accessibility upgrades.

The project was announced as part of the state budget in June and is set to include three new lifts, accessible pathways, an additional accessible parking space, a kiss-and-ride space and a family restroom.

The upgrade is being delivered as part of the government’s Transport Access Program, which also recently included an announcement for improvements at Waratah train station

Lake Macquarie MP Greg Piper had put the Wyee project on a wish list of infrastructure upgrades in March ahead of the budget release.

Mr Piper is now inviting the community to learn more about the proposed upgrade of the Lake Macquarie station.

A Transport for NSW project team will visit Wyee train station on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm to discuss the plans.

“I am delighted that these upgrades will make Wyee Station accessible to everybody, including those with a disability, limited mobility, parents and carers with prams and customers with luggage,” Mr Piper said.

“This ‘pop up’ information session is a great opportunity for the Wyee community and public transport customers to find out more about the planned improvements.”

The Transport Access Program has delivered 450 projects, either completed or underway, across the state since 2011.
