Barbara and Kevin Weimer

Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—I'd like to acknowledge the tremendous work done by Barbara and Kevin Weimer from Bolton Point in championing the sport of tennis throughout Lake Macquarie. Barbara and Kevin created the Bolton Point Tennis Club almost 50 years ago and since its inception have been heavily involved in every aspect of it. During that time they have successfully lobbied for funding to upgrade the facility, helped in the daily running of the courts and club, organised numerous social events, club events, competitions and have seen thousands of children coached through the club. Their love of tennis began during their childhood years when as next-door neighbours they began to play the sport together and with their friends. Barbara and Kevin are well-known and loved members of the tennis community and have encouraged generations of locals to play, enjoy and respect the game. In recognition of their efforts, they were recently recognised as a finalist in the 2022 Lake Mac Volunteer of the Year Awards. I acknowledge and thank Barbara and Kevin for their contribution to the community.
