¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.20am Saturday September 11
¿ Another 10 new cases were reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in the local outbreak to 285. There are now 145 active cases in the region, with a further 139 people now recovered, and one who died.
¿ Of those new cases:
¿ 5 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 1 in Fishing Point
- Was infectious in community (no exposure sites are yet known)
- Under investigation
- 2 in Marmong Point
- Were isolating while infectious
- Linked to household contact
- 1 in Morisset
- Was isolating while infectious
- Linked to household contact
- 1 in Wyee Point
- Was isolating while infectious
- Linked to household contact
¿ 4 are from Newcastle LGA
- 1 in Kotara
- Was infectious in community
- Linked to a known case
- 1 in New Lambton
- Was infectious in community
- Under investigation
- 2 in Newcastle East
- Both were infectious in community
- 1 is linked a household contact and 1 is under
investigation
¿ 1 is from Port Stephens LGA
- in Fern Bay
- Was infectious in community

¿ Another 27 cases were reported in the Central Coast region to our south yesterday, so that area remains a concern.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1599 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, eight more deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, all in Sydney.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 1164 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 221 in ICU and 94 requiring ventilators.
¿ There have been 170 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 226 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 36,374 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ VACCINATIONS: Across NSW, 77.3 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 44.5 per cent are fully vaccinated (as at 11:59pm on Thursday, 9th September 2021).
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: HNE Health has released details of a number of new exposure sites, including several at Warners Bay, Cardiff, Nelson Bay and Mayfield. You can read more details of those sites here.
¿ CHANGE TO RESTRICTION FROM MONDAY: Statement from the Health Minister: “From Monday 13 September, people across NSW who have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine will be allowed more freedoms. For those who live outside the LGAs of concern (that includes Lake Macquarie) up to 5 fully vaccinated adults can engage in outdoor recreation in a person’s LGA or within 5km of home. Children under 12 will not be counted in this total.”
