I've been down to Sydney again for talks with new Sports Minister John Sidoti who has promised an independent review of the Origin Energy report which the Office of Sport based its decision on. This is a solid breakthrough which will examine the level of risk posed to the Myuna Bay site which, as we already know, is extremely remote and certainly shouldn't have warranted the closure of the centre.
I've also had talks with the Office of Sport and Origin Energy and they are now very aware of the community's outrage at their decision.
The Office of Sport has assured me there will be absolutely no destruction or demolition of the Myuna Bay centre in the meantime.
Response to the petition has been enormous but we need as many original signatures as possible. If you need more copies of the petition, call my office or print one from my website on this link: http://www.gregpiper1.com/savemyunabay
Support is coming from all corners of NSW via statewide media coverage. Below is an interview I did with 2GB's Ben Fordham in Sydney yesterday.
Thanks again for standing up for our much-loved centre. We'll keep on fighting.
