Just reward for a remarkable woman

In the space of three years, Kerrie Mathews lost two sons to suicide.

She now dedicates her life to helping people and educating others about mental health issues and suicide, and has even built a chapel on her Blackalls Park property for those who are grieving loss.

Her dream is to establish a retreat which will turn the tide against youth suicide, and help to ease the pain for those affected by it.

Kerrie is an absolutely remarkable woman, so I was very honoured to host her and some of her loved ones today and present her with a NSW Government Community Service Award.

Congratulations Kerrie, and thank you for everything you are doing in the Lake Macquarie community.
