I can finally confirm that the new Service NSW centre will be located in the former Miller’s store on The Boulevard at Toronto.

It’s taken a bit longer than we’d hoped to get to this point but locking in a prime location on the main street is worth it.

In order to accommodate the new centre, a few changes are being made with existing tenants.

The gift store which is currently next to the café will be moving around the corner into the Rockmans store, while Rockmans will be moving into the former newsagency opposite Coles.

This is a great result for everyone concerned, and a real boost for the Toronto town centre.

The only slight downside is that Service NSW won’t be ready to open until mid to late February, but we’ve waited three years to get our services back so I think we can wait a few weeks longer!

Here's a copy of the media announcement I issued today with Minister Victor Dominello:

Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello and Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper today announced the location for the new Service NSW Centre at Toronto.

The centre, announced in this year’s State Budget, will be established in a prime main street location on The Boulevard in Toronto Town Square, providing locals with access to around 40 NSW Government agencies under the one roof.

Mr Dominello said the centre will provide face to face services and allow people to get a birth certificate, vehicle registration, and also Seniors Cards.

“The list of services doesn’t stop there as people can also lodge a medical change of conditions for driver licences and apply for a death or marriage certificate,” Mr Dominello said.

“Service NSW has transformed the way people access government services, making it an efficient and friendly experience.

“Service NSW is also a gateway to government savings and incentives which will help ease the cost of living, including CTP refunds as well as Active Kids vouchers.”

Mr Piper said: “It’s taken a little while to get an appropriate location locked in but this is a great result worth waiting for.”

“Locals will know the site as the former Miller’s store. Under the plan, a couple of nearby retailers will be relocated to bigger and better premises a few doors down so the new Service NSW centre can fit in.

“This will be a major boost for the Toronto town centre. I again thank the NSW Government and Minister Dominello for listening to this community and returning these services to the people of western Lake Macquarie.”

The centre is part of the $20 million expansion of the Service NSW network into rural and regional areas and is expected to open its doors in the first half of next year.
