$300,000 for Lake Macquarie community projects
18th December 2017

Two dozen community organisations in the Lake Macquarie electorate have been awarded grants to improve or construct facilities under the Community Building Partnership Scheme.
Independent MP for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper said today that $300,000 worth of grants will be handed to sporting, cultural, child care, service and community groups which operate within the Lake Macquarie state electorate.
“Community Building Partnership grants allow local organisations to build or improve facilities for their members and the communities they serve,” Mr Piper said.
“More than 100 grants totalling more than $3 million collectively have been handed out in the Lake Macquarie electorate since the program began in 2009.”
“These small community projects deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes.”
Among the sporting groups which made successful bids this year are Toronto Tigers Baseball Club which will receive funds for a batting cage refurbishment, and South Cardiff Football Club which will be able to build a new disability pathway.
Boolaroo-Speers Point Community Kindergarten will receive $40,000 for a multi-purpose room. Woodrising Neighbourhood Centre will receive $22,000 for an outdoor junior adventure playground and Morisset-Toronto Meals on Wheels will receive more than $9000 for kitchen upgrades.
A full list of this year’s grant recipients is included below.
Mr Piper urged any group wanting to know about next year’s round of grants to contact his office.
“I also run workshops each year which deal with fundraising and the writing of grant applications,” he said. “Please contact my office if you or your organisation would be interested in attending.”
