Lake Macquarie Classic Boat Association has hosted a morning tea to celebrate the completion of work on its $30,000 workshop floor.

The new concrete surface, made possible by a state government grant issued under the Community Building Partnership program, has been installed in the group’s No 2 workshop at Rathmines.

Member for Lake Macquarie, Greg Piper, was integral to the group’s successful application.

“So this morning tea is to thank Greg for his input,” association president Bill Coote said.

The group, which is like a Men’s Shed but also welcomes women, has 54 members including four shipwrights.

Among their recent successes was the restoration of a 14-foot rowboat designed and built by Bill Fisher in Putney, in 1930.
