FUNDING BOOST FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN LAKE MACQUARIE

04th August 2025

The Lake Macquarie electorate has secured funding of $450,000 for 18 projects through the NSW Government’s 2025 Community Building Partnership Program (CBP).

This $41 million statewide grant program allows local organisations and Councils improve facilities to support vibrant and inclusive communities.

Successful projects in this round of CBP funding include the Itji-Marru Outdoor Learning and Culture Space at Morisset High School, which will be used to teach the Awabakal language and host community events, and the installation of a solar PV system and battery storage at Wyee Point Rural Fire Station. This will allow the Fire Brigade to remain operational and respond to incidents when the power grid is down.

Toronto and District Brass Band, who have proudly represented our community for over 60 years, have also secured funds to purchase much needed instruments for members to use.

It's great to see funding for grassroots projects in Lake Macquarie which improves amenities and supports the wellbeing, safety and needs of our diverse community.

I congratulate the successful organisations and look forward to seeing the positive impact the completed projects will make for the people of Lake Macquarie.
