Teralba Tragedy

The Newcastle Herald has reported today that the victims of last week's tragic Teralba house fire are believed to be Teralba grandmother Therese Harris and Dudley resident Patricia Kerr.

My sincere condolences to the families and friends of both Ms Harris and Ms Kerr. I understand Ms Harris and Ms Kerr were both mothers and grandmothers who will no doubt be deeply missed by their families and loved ones.

The Herald has also reported that Ms Harris and Ms Kerr appear to be NSW's first recorded deaths from a lithium-ion related battery fire.

Lithium-ion battery fires are a growing concern, I urge everyone in the community to educate themselves on the risks and safety precautions needed when using these batteries around the home.
