BUILD THEM HERE

I've backed the 'Build Them Here' campaign since it first began and today I've recommitted that pledge to support government procurement policies which create and protect local manufacturing jobs.

Over the past decade, governments have been dumbing down our ability to manufacture trains, buses, ferries and other assets, and that’s really going to hurt us in the future.

I feel very frustrated for our skilled workers who have already lost jobs while governments opt for cheaper, inferior, foreign-made transport assets.

The new Parliament creates new opportunities to ensure we have a skilled manufacturing workforce, and today I again pledge to fly that flag for local manufacturing.
