Queen Elizabeth II: we will miss her calm demeanour and her constant presence

As inevitable as Her Majesty’s eventual passing would be, the news overnight of Queen Elizabeth’s death has hit people from all over the world very hard.
For Australians, whether Monarchists or Republicans, Queen Elizabeth was held in high regard and for the vast majority of us she has been at the helm of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth all our lives.
We live in a time of incredible disruption within and between nations and I think there was at least some comfort for many derived from her calm demeanour and her constant presence.
