Covid update - Tuesday

1661 new cases have been recorded in the Hunter Health district over the past 24 hours, including 342 in Lake Macquarie. Hunter Region: 1354 new cases. We now have 24,146 active cases in the health district.
¿ COVID UPDATE - 11am, TUESDAY JANUARY 11
¿ 1661 new cases have been recorded in the Hunter Health district over the past 24 hours, including 342 in Lake Macquarie.
¿ Hunter Region: 1354 new cases.
¿ We now have 24,146 active cases in the health district.
¿ We also have 106 local people being cared for in our hospitals, and 9 are in ICU.
¿ Statewide: 25,870 new cases, and 11 more deaths.
¿ Sadly, two more deaths have been recorded in the region. They include a woman in her 80s from the Cessnock area and a woman in her 80s from the Muswellbrook area. My sincere condolences go out to their families and friends.
¿ Of the new cases in the health district:

- 342 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 210 are from Maitland LGA
- 148 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 138 are from Cessnock LGA
- 131 are from Port Stephens LGA
- 100 are from Tamworth Regional LGA
- 65 are from Muswellbrook LGA
- 46 are from Singleton LGA
- 41 are from Upper Hunter LGA
- 19 are from Narrabri LGA
- 11 are from Dungog LGA
- 10 are from Inverell LGA
- 9 are from Gunnedah LGA
- 6 are from Liverpool Plains LGA
- 5 are from Armidale LGA
- 4 are from Gwydir LGA
- 4 are from Moree Plains LGA
- 1 is from Tenterfield LGA
- 1 is from Uralla LGA
¿ STATEWIDE
- 95.1% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.7% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.5% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.1% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 71,325 tests
- 25,870 total new cases
- 2,186 people in hospital
- 170 people in ICU
- 11 deaths
¿ VACCINATIONS FOR CHILDREN AGED 5 TO 11: COVID-19 vaccinations are now available for children aged 5 years and older. Those children will receive the Pfizer paediatric vaccine, around one third of the dose used for people aged 12 years and older.
