COVID UPDATE - 11.00am, TUESDAY JANUARY 4 1689 new cases have been recorded in the Hunter Health district over the past 24 hours, including 347 in Lake Macquarie. Hunter Region: 1463 new cases. We now have 8675 active cases in the health district. We also have 70 local people being cared for in our hospitals, and 6 are in ICU. Statewide: 23,131 new cases, and two deaths. Of the new cases in the health district:- 347 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 230 are from Newcastle LGA
- 233 are from Maitland LGA
- 195 are from Cessnock LGA
- 137 are from Tamworth Regional LGA
- 122 are from Port Stephens LGA
- 94 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 79 are from Singleton LGA
- 56 are from Upper Hunter LGA
- 42 are from Muswellbrook LGA
- 42 are from Narrabri LGA
- 32 are from Moree Plains LGA
- 27 are from Armidale Regional LGA
- 22 are from Dungog LGA

STATEWIDE- 95% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.6% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.4% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.1% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 83,376 tests
