Well the public holiday lag has caught up in today’s figures - 1983 new cases have been recorded in the Hunter Health district, including 480 in Lake Macquarie.
¿ COVID UPDATE - 11AM, FRIDAY DECEMBER 31
¿ Well the public holiday lag has caught up in today’s figures - 1983 new cases have been recorded in the Hunter Health district, including 480 in Lake Macquarie.
¿ Hunter Region: 1897 new cases.
¿ We now have 10,138 active cases in the District.
¿ On a reasonably positive note despite the case numbers, we have 35 people being cared for in our hospitals and just 2 in ICU.
¿ Statewide: 21,151 new cases, and six more deaths.
¿ Sadly, this includes a man in his 70s who died at John Hunter Hospital. He was a resident of the Kilpatrick Court aged care facility in Toronto, where he acquired his infection. He had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. My condolences to his family and all his friends at the village.
¿ Of the new cases in the health district:
- 730 are from Newcastle LGA
- 480 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 245 are from Maitland LGA
- 138 are from Port Stephens LGA
- 120 are from Cessnock LGA
- 100 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 43 are from Singleton LGA
- 24 are from Muswellbrook LGA
- 21 are from Tamworth Reg. LGA
- 19 are from Upper Hunter LGA
- 17 are from Armidale LGA
- 11 are from Moree Plains LGA
- 10 are from Narrabri LGA
- 8 are from Dungog LGA
- 8 are from Inverell LGA
- 3 are from Gunnedah LGA
- 2 are from Liverpool Plains LGA
- 1 is from Glen Innes LGA
- 1 is from Gwydir LGA
- 1 is from Uralla LGA
- 1 is from Walcha LGA
¿ STATEWIDE
- 95% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.6% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.5% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.2% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 148,410 tests
- 21,151 total new cases
- 832 people in hospital
- 69 people in ICU
- 6 deaths
