Covid update - Saturday

Merry Christmas everyone! Here's today's Covid update. Please remember that my staff and I are spending some time with family and won't be able to respond to questions today. COVID UPDATE - 11AM, SATURDAY DECEMBER 25
627 new cases have been recorded in the Hunter Health district over the past 24 hours, including 222 in Lake Macquarie.
Hunter Region: 526 new cases.
Statewide: An unwanted daily record of 6288 new cases, but no deaths were recorded in the State yesterday.
There are now 6632 active cases in the Hunter health district.
We now have 12 people being treated for Covid in local hospitals, with 2 in ICU.
Statewide vaccination rate for people aged 16+ has reached 95%.
Of the new cases in the health district:
- 222 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 123 are from Newcastle LGA
- 80 are from Maitland LGA
- 34 are from Cessnock LGA
- 34 are from Port Stephens LGA
- 33 are from Tamworth Regional LGA
- 16 are from Singleton LGA
- 15 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 12 are from Armidale LGA
- 10 are from Inverell LGA
- 7 are from Moree Plains LGA
- 7 are from Walcha LGA
- 6 are from Muswellbrook LGA
- 6 are from Upper Hunter LGA
- 5 are from Dungog LGA
- 5 are from Gunnedah LGA
- 4 are from Narrabri LGA
- 3 are from Gwydir LGA
- 2 are from Glen Innes LGA
- 1 is from Liverpool Plains
- 1 is from Tenterfield LGA
- 1 is from Uralla LGA
STATEWIDE
- 95% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.5% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.6% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.3% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 149,261 tests
- 6,288 total new cases
- 388 people in hospital
- 52 people in ICU
- 0 deaths
