Covid update: Sunday

COVID UPDATE - SUNDAY DECEMBER 12 Just 1 new case in Lake Macquarie today. (Please note that Hunter Health is no longer providing the suburb locations of new cases as they currently provide no broad public health benefit). Lower Hunter: 8 new cases Hunter health district: 12 new cases. Statewide: 485 new cases. EXPOSURE SITE OF CONCERN: Hunter New England Health has been notified of 3 confirmed cases of COVID-19 who attended The Argyle House nightclub in Newcastle while potentially infectious. Anyone who attended from 9pm on Wednesday 8 December through to 3am on Thursday 9 December is urged to come forward for testing as soon as possible and isolate until a negative result is received. It is not yet confirmed if the cases are infected with the Omicron COVID-19 variant. Of the new cases in the health district:- 2 active cases are being cared for in our hospitals, both are currently in ICU.
Of the 12 new cases:
- 5 are from Newcastle LGA
- 2 are from Maitland LGA
- 1 is from Lake Macquarie LGA

STATEWIDE- 94.8% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.1% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.4% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 77.7% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
Over the past 24 hours
- 90,804 tests
- 485 total new cases
- 156 people in hospital
- 23 people in ICU
- 2 deaths
