¿ COVID UPDATE - THURSDAY DECEMBER 9
¿ 2 new cases in Lake Macquarie today.
¿ While we now have no people in hospital being treated for Covid, a Lake Macquarie man aged in his 70s died in Gosford Hospital yesterday with Covid. The man was fully vaccinated but had significant underlying health conditions.
¿ Lower Hunter: 6 new cases
¿ Hunter health district: 13 new cases.
¿ Statewide: 420 new cases.
¿ Of the new cases in the health district:
¿2 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 1 from Bonnells Bay
- 1 from Cardiff
¿2 are from Newcastle LGA
- 1 from Mayfield
- 1 from Wallsend
¿1 is from Dungog LGA
- 1 from Martins Creek
¿1 is from Maitland LGA
- 1 from Bolwarra Heights

¿7 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 4 from Taree
- 3 from Purfleet
- None of the total active cases is currently being cared for in hospital.
- 10 cases are linked and 2 are unlinked. 1 is under investigation.
- 10 were infectious in the community and 2 were isolating while infectious. 1 is under investigation.
¿ STATEWIDE
- 94.7% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.4% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 77.4% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
Over the past 24 hours:
- 84,883 tests
- 420 total new cases
- 151 people in hospital
- 25 people in ICU
- 1 death
