COVID UPDATE - WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 8
N new cases in Lake Macquarie today.
Lower Hunter: 2 new cases
Hunter health district: 12 new cases.
Statewide: 403 new cases.
Omicron update: There are now 34 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in NSW. None of those cases have required hospitalisation.
Of the new cases in the health district:
1 is from Newcastle LGA
- 1 from Mayfield
1 is from Singleton LGA
- 1 from Singleton

6 are from Moree Plains LGA
- 6 from Moree
4 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 2 from Wingham
- 1 from Taree
- 1 from Tuncurry
- 1 of the total active cases is currently being cared for in hospital.
- 10 cases are linked and 2 are unlinked.
- 7 were infectious in the community and 3 were isolating while infectious. 2 are under investigation.
STATEWIDE
- 94.7% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 92.9% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.4% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 77.3% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 92,566 tests
- 403 total new cases
- 151 people in hospital
- 25 people in ICU
- 1 death
