¿ $1.4m FOR LOCAL PROJECTS
¿ We've done pretty well out of the latest round of 'Resources for Regions' funding, with about $1.4m coming our way for a range of local projects.
¿ The State scheme directs money from mining royalties back into mining communities via the local council. In the latest round we've secured:
¿ $350,000 for a car park at the planned Rathmines youth centre and skate park ($470,000 was secured in the last round of funding for this project);
¿ $250,000 for a new multi-court facility at Killingworth;
¿ $595,299 to install new floodlighting at Douglass St Oval at Dora Creek (pictured), and Finnan Oval at Blackalls Park;
¿ $120,000 to prepare plans for a local Sailing Centre of Excellence; and
¿ $80,000 to prepare plans for four learn-to-swim pools at local swim centres.
¿ My thanks to Lake Macquarie City Council and to Taylor Martin MLC for their work in helping to secure these funds.
