78 NEW LOCAL CASES / NEW LGA VACCINATION RATES
COVID UPDATE - 11am Wednesday October 13
In good news today, 95% of Lake Macquarie people aged 15+ have now received one vaccine, with our full vaccination rate likely to hit 70% today.
I haven't been able to publish postcode breakdowns this week as the data supplied by NSW Health is incorrect, but the totals by LGA are as follows:
- Lake Macquarie: First 95%, second 68.9%
- Newcastle: First 89%, second 66.5%
- Maitland: First 93.7%, second 63.3%
- Cessnock: First 89.1%, second 58.4%
- Port Stephens: First 94.9%, second 70%
- Central Coast: First 93%, second 72.6%
There were 78 new cases in the Hunter Health district in the 24 hours to 8pm, including 14 in Lake Macquarie. These new cases take the total number in the latest Hunter outbreak to 1892.

19 local people are being cared for in hospital. Four are in ICU.
STATUS AND CLOSE CONTACTS: Of those new cases, 54 are linked, 20 are unlinked and 4 are still under investigation. Further, 38 were infectious in the community, while 36 were isolating while infectious and the remaining 4 are still under investigation.
EXPOSURE SITES: New exposure sites named by HNE Health overnight include venues at Warners Bay, Windale, Singleton, Raymond Terrace, Kurri Kurri, Medowie and Maitland. More details on the new sites (including a link to the full list at NSW Health) are are on my website HERE.
POP-UP VAX CLINICS AT MORISSET and TORONTO: Just a reminder that there is a pop-up Pfizer vaccination clinic at MORISSET TODAY October 13. The clinic will be held in the Masonic Hall at 5 Yambo Street from 10am to 3pm. No appointment is necessary. Open to everyone aged 12+, but children 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult. I've also received confirmation that a pop-up clinic will be held at TORONTO THIS SUNDAY October 17. It will be held at the Toronto Community Health centre, 6 James St from 10am to 2pm. As above, bookings are not required.
STATEWIDE in the past 24 hours:
- 90.8% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 75.2% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 105,508 tests in the last 24 hours
- 444 new locally acquired cases
- 2 new overseas acquired cases
- 446 new total cases
- 716 people in hospital
- 150 people in ICU
- 4 deaths
