¿ Sadly, another new record today with 93 new cases reported in the Hunter health district in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, including 26 in Lake Macquarie. These new cases take the total number in the latest local outbreak to 1352.
¿ NSW Health has asked people in the Wallsend, Merewether and Cessnock areas to be particularly vigilant and get tested if the mildest of symptoms are experienced.

¿ 23 local people are being cared for in hospital. Two are in ICU.
¿ STATUS AND CLOSE CONTACTS: Of those new cases, 67 are linked, 12 are unlinked and 14 are still under investigation. Further, 54 were infectious in the community, while 25 were isolating while infectious and the remaining 14 are still under investigation. We still have 922 active cases in the Hunter Region.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: The Ampol service station at Warners Bay, Aldi at Kotara and a number of sites at Singleton, Branxton, Cessnock and Muswellbrook are among the new exposure sites named by NSW Health overnight. ¿ VACCINATION RATES BY LAKE MACQUARIE POSTCODE: Almost 91% of Lake Macquarie residents aged 15+ have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and 61% have had two doses. The latest breakdown of vaccination figures by Lake Macquarie postcode are on my website HERE.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 594 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, another 10 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are now 959 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 188 in ICU and 93 requiring ventilators.
¿ STATEWIDE VACCINATION RATES: Across NSW, 88.6 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 67.7 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Monday 4 October 2021.
¿ TESTING: The importance of getting tested has never been more important in the local area. Please don't be complacent. If you experience any symptoms, please get tested as soon as possible.
