Covid update: Sunday

In a vast improvement on yesterday's numbers, there were 13 new cases reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Sunday September 19
¿ In a vast improvement on yesterday's numbers, there were 13 new cases reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. These new cases take the total number in the local outbreak to 434.
¿ There are currently 267 active cases in the local region. While one local person has died, 166 local people have now fully recovered.
¿ OF THOSE NEW CASES:
¿¿ 3 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 1 in Dora Creek
- 1 in Mount Hutton
- 1 in West Wallsend
¿¿ 9 are from Newcastle LGA
- 4 in Maryville
- 2 in Merewether
- 1 in Newcastle East
- 1 in New Lambton
- 1 in Tarro
¿¿ 1 is from Maitland LGA
- 1 in Metford

¿ STATUS AND CLOSE CONTACTS:
Of those new cases, 7 are linked, 4 are unlinked and 2 are still under investigation. Nine were infectious in the community, 2 were isolating while infectious and 2 are still under investigation.
We still have 576 close contacts in the local area who are in isolation..
¿ 17 local people are being cared for in hospital. Two are
in ICU.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: Hunter-New England Health has added a number of new exposure sites overnight. The latest sites include locations at Toronto, Adamstown, Mayfield and Gateshead. Full details below, along with a link to all current exposure sites in the Hunter Region are on my website HERE.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1083 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, another 13 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours.
¿ There have been 241 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 297 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 46,151 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are now 1238 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 234 in ICU and 123 requiring ventilators.
¿ VACCINATIONS: Across NSW, 81.9 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 51.9 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Friday 17 September 2021.
The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 8,847,518 with 3,215,891 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 5,631,627 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Friday 17 September 2021.
