¿ FIFTEEN NEW LOCAL CASES
¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Saturday September 4
¿ Not the best news today with 15 new cases in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, including one at Balcolyn. This brings the total number of cases in the local outbreak to 218. There are currently 93 active cases in the region.
¿ Of those new cases:

(both linked to previous case)
¿¿ 1 in Medowie - was infectious while in the community
¿¿ 1 from Lake Macquarie LGA
¿¿ 1 in Balcolyn - was infectious in the community

¿ 11 local people are currently being cared for in hospital, with none in ICU.
¿ There are 358 close contacts of local cases who are in isolation.
¿ Ten of the local cases are linked to known exposures or family clusters, and the remaining five are still under investigation. There are three cases linked to the Motto Farm Motel cluster, with five secondary cases in the Hunter community.
¿ Just to our south, the Central Coast has also recorded 15 new cases over the past 24 hours
¿ FALSE ALARM: One of the cases reported yesterday was not in fact a Hunter Region resident. HNE Health has advised that the laboratory who did the testing of the reported Upper Hunter case was using a previous address. The positive case resides in Sydney. The case has not visited the Upper Hunter and there is no risk to the Upper Hunter community.
¿ STATEWIDE: There was a record 1533 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, four more deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, all in the Sydney region.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 1041 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 173 in ICU and 62 requiring ventilators.
¿ There have been 123 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 179 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 26,517 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: HNE Health has released details of a number of new exposure sites over the past 24 hours. They include sites at Charlestown Square, Anna Bay, Heatherbrae, Belmont, Waratah, Redhead and Lambton. More details are on my website here.
¿ WEDDINGS: As of yesterday, small wedding services can be held across NSW with a maximum of 11 attendees permitted. This includes the 5 people legally required for a wedding (the people getting married, a celebrant and 2 witnesses), 5 guests and 1 person to record the service.
¿ TESTING: Testing numbers in the local area remain low and are a concern. Please get tested if you experience the mildest of symptoms, particularly if you've been near any of the exposure locations.
¿ QUESTIONS: Please see my Facebook or Website pages for answers to frequently asked questions. Service NSW also has a 24/7 hotline where people are available to answer questions. You can reach them on 13 77 88.
¿ STAY SAFE, stay vigilant, and stay home unless you absolutely have to go somewhere
