¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am FRIDAY August 27 ¿
¿ There were 2 new cases in the region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in the current local outbreak to 170.
¿ Of those two new cases:
- 1 is from Cessnock LGA (Kurri Kurri, was infectious in the community) and
- 1 is from Port Stephens LGA (Tomago. Note: This individual was infected at RPA Hospital in Sydney, where they remain. This case is only attributed to Port Stephens as that is where they permanently reside. There is no risk to the community.)
¿ 29 local people are currently being cared for in hospital with none in ICU. We still have 668 close contacts of confirmed cases in the local area, all of whom are in isolation.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 882 new cases recorded throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, two more deaths were recorded in Sydney overnight.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 767 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 117 in ICU and 47 on ventilators.
¿ HSC / BACK TO SCHOOL: The Premier and Education Minister have today set a timeframe for children going back to school. In short, HSC exams have been pushed back to November 9. There will be a staged return to school for all students from October 25, but if the local region comes out of restrictions before then, all schools will reopen in line with that.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: There has only been one exposure site so far linked the Windale outbreak. Anyone who attended the following venue on the specified dates and times are casual contacts (unless they have been contacted by NSW Health as close contacts) and must get tested and isolate until a negative test result is received:
¿ Windale Takeaway (6 Lake Street) on Saturday 21 August from 5.35pm - 5.45pm.
¿ QUESTIONS: Please see my Facebook or Website pages for answers to frequently asked questions. Service NSW also has a 24/7 hotline where people are available to answer questions. You can reach them on 13 77 88.
¿ Please stay safe, stay vigilant, and stay home unless you absolutely have to go somewhere.
