¿ A couple of important things to update you on this morning and I'm pleased to say it's all reasonably positive news!
¿ WORK PERMITS: The Government has formalised the work permit system overnight and I'm pleased to say they've listened to our calls. If you live on the Central Coast and work in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle or the Hunter (or vice-versa), you will NOT need a work permit from this Saturday. The rule was originally slated to include workers from all of Greater Sydney but it has been paired back to just Sydney, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains.
¿ WHO WILL NEED ONE? People from Sydney, Blue Mountains and Wollongong will need a permit if they're entering our region for authorised work, to inspect a property (only for living in, no investment property etc) or to visit a holiday home (for urgent maintenance or work purposes only, and one person only). Police have promised a much greater presence on the M1 to keep Sydney residents out of the Central Coast and Hunter Region.
¿ POWER OUTAGES: I'm still waiting on a full response from Ausgrid regarding planned power outages in our area over the next fortnight. I've asked them to defer all outages given we have so many people working from home as well as home schooling. They have cancelled a full-day outage planned for Dora Creek but I'm waiting to hear about others, including one for Speers Point this Thursday.
¿ LOCKDOWN: Deputy Premier John Barilaro has said it's likely that the local lockdown will be extended by a week this Friday. If case numbers continue to stabilise and fall, we could soon go back to the minimal restrictions we had last month. He also said that our fortunes are not tied to the situation in Sydney which looks like staying in lockdown for quite a while yet.
