¿ COVID UPDATE - Saturday July 24 ¿
¿ Sadly, another day of records in Sydney in the 24 hours to 8pm last night with 163 new cases of community transmission. Of those people, 71 were fully or partially active in the Sydney community while infectious before their positive test.
¿ There are 139 people in NSW hospitals with Covid-related illness with 37 people in ICU and 17 on ventilators. As reported yesterday, another death has been recorded in Sydney and is included in today’s figures.
¿ It’s now been 352 days without any community transmission in the Lake Macquarie-Newcastle area. Keep those fingers crossed!
¿ As I also noted yesterday, there is no doubt that existing restrictions in Sydney will be extended beyond next Friday, probably until the end of August. The Premier is expected to make a further announcement regarding restrictions on Monday.
¿ It should also be noted that all states have now closed their borders to all of NSW. The ACT and NT remain open but strict quarantine measures are in place there.
¿ Please remember to use common sense when moving around the place and get tested immediately if you experience any symptoms. Please stay vigilant and stay safe!
