¿ COVID UPDATE - Thursday July 15 ¿
¿ Probably most importantly, no new cases of community transmission in the Lake Macquarie-Newcastle area for the 343rd consecutive day.
¿ Statewide, there were 65 new cases of community transmission reported in the 24 hours to 8pm (down from 97 the day before), and of those, 28 were in the community while infectious before their positive test (up from 24 the previous day). As the Premier has indicated today, these figures will probably bounce around for a few more days yet, but the most encouraging thing is that they have stabilised and are not increasing dramatically.
¿ I've also been contacted by a lot of people struggling with the online booking system for the vaccination hub at Belmont. Please be aware that the hub is called 'Newcastle Vaccination Centre' - there is no 'Belmont' in the title on the online booking system. If you have further issues with it, phone 1800 57 11 55.
¿ I've also included a new graphic above today which summarises the new business assistance packages. This assistance IS available to eligible Lake Macquarie businesses.
¿ There are now 73 people being treated in the State's hospitals for Covid complications, with 19 in ICU and five people being kept alive on ventilators.
¿ Please remember that the most important thing you can be doing right now is using common sense when moving around the place and getting tested if you experience any symptoms. Stay safe!
