¿ IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE - Wednesday July 7 ¿
¿ The Premier has today announced that the current restrictions will be extended by another week to 11.59pm on Friday July 16.
¿ That means that masks remain mandatory in all indoor settings in the Lake Macquarie area, that visitors to your home are limited to five, and the Central Coast and Sydney remain under the stay-at-home order.
¿ Schools in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle area will resume as normal next week with face to face teaching, but those on the Central Coast and in Greater Sydney will not.
¿ The extension comes after a further 27 cases of community transmission were recorded yesterday, with seven of those people moving about in the community while infectious before their positive test.
¿ Of special note, NSW Health said that all of the new cases recorded in the Sydney metro area were among people already in isolation, but of particular concern are the areas of Fairfield, Liverpool and Canterbury-Bankstown where the infectious cases had been circulating. Please, if you have been to any of those areas for work or any other reason, get tested, remain vigilant and follow the NSW Health advice.
¿ Finally, on a good note, there hasn't been a case of community transmission in Lake Macquarie or Newcastle for 335 days. Here's hoping we can keep our record going!
