¿ IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE - Monday May 3
¿ It's now been 270 days since we had a case of community transmission in the Hunter-New England Health District. No community transmission anywhere in NSW over the past 24 hours, but 5 new cases in quarantine among the returned overseas travellers.
¿ The situation overseas continues to rage, especially in India and its neighbouring countries as I'm sure you've seen on TV. The number of cases globally is still climbing, setting records last week when 904,000 new cases were recorded in a single day. The global death toll is currently around 14,000 a day. It's a reminder that while things are under control here at home, complacency could be disastrous.
¿ Also, just a reminder that anyone aged 50 or above is eligible for a vaccine from today. Check with you local GP for a time and date, but if your GP is not administering the vaccine, you can find other places here.
¿ As you can see in the graphic below, the number of vaccinations in NSW now totals 672,352. You can check your vaccine eligibility criteria here.
¿ NSW currently has 125 active cases, QLD has 18, Victoria has 21, WA has 29, SA has 33, the NT has 41 and the ACT has 1. Tasmania has zero. (Note: all are returned overseas travellers in quarantine except for the recent cases of community transmission in WA).
¿ Australia's death toll stands at 910, with 56 of those in NSW.
