1pm flood and weather update
23rd March 2021
The Bureau of Meteorology is finally predicting that the rain will start to leave us about 9pm tonight. Finally! A severe weather warning remains in place, however, with the possibility that we may still get some heavy falls and strong winds between now and then.
As you'd be aware, much of the region around us is experiencing various degrees of flooding so it's a good idea to delay any travel outside of the local area.
Also, please take care on the local roads as there are potholes everywhere. I know that Lake council has had crews out filling some, but they can't get to them all and many of the ones they're filling are reopening as the rain continues.
Train services between Sydney and Newcastle are still disrupted with buses now running between some stations. Check for updates: https://transportnsw.info/news
Newcastle Airport remains closed, and Newcastle University remains closed.
