Saretta is our Lake Macquarie Woman of the Year

Many of you know the very talented Saretta Fielding from Toronto, but for those who don't, let me introduce you to the Lake Macquarie Local Woman of the Year!

I was so pleased to join Saretta in Sydney this morning for the NSW Women of the Year awards ceremony where the top gong went to NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant.

Saretta, an Aboriginal woman from Wonnarua Nation, is a nationally-acclaimed artist and a dedicated advocate for the Aboriginal community. She was also a pioneering board member of Yarnteen which aims to build Aboriginal involvement in business.

She is thoroughly deserving of this award and a wonderful member of the Lake Macquarie community.
