¿ COVID UPDATE - Monday March 1
¿ The vaccination rollout is going well so far (more than 10,000 health workers and quarantine staff vaccinated in NSW already), but I'm disappointed that frontline Hunter Health staff are currently having to travel to Sydney for vaccinations. This situation will change over the next few weeks when the 'regional vaccination hub' at John Hunter opens in about two weeks. The schedule for how the vaccination program will be rolled out to the broader population is still being finalised, but I'll keep you posted.
¿ In the meantime, NSW has recorded no new cases of community transmission for the 43rd consecutive day. There were 3 new cases among the returned overseas travellers.
¿ The Hunter Region has now gone 207 days without a locally-transmitted case.
¿ NSW has started including returned travellers in its 'active case' numbers in line with other States. NSW currently has 38 active cases (all returned travellers in quarantine), Victoria has 11. There are 11 in QLD, 3 in WA, 3 in SA and 2 in the NT. Tasmania and the ACT have zero active cases.
¿ Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
¿ Please continue to stay safe, vigilant and maintain the social distancing.
¿ Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested immediately.
