COVID UPDATE - Thursday February 25
A further easing of restrictions will take place at midnight tonight, meaning we're not far off getting back to life as it was pre-Covid. A summary of those changes is in the graphic below.
The vaccination of Hunter Health staff began yesterday, which is great news. This is a very complex and long rollout, but please be assured that vaccines will be available to everyone locally, and I will post details of that program when it's finalised.
For the 39th day in a row, NSW recorded no new cases of community transmission in the past 24 hours. There were 7 new cases among the returned overseas travellers. They are of course in quarantine and were at the time of their infectious period.
The Hunter Region has now gone 203 days without a locally-transmitted case.
The number of active cases in Victoria is 16. There are 8 in QLD, 3 in WA, 4 in SA and 2 in the NT. Tasmania, the ACT and NSW have zero active cases.
Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested immediately
