?? COVID UPDATE - Sunday January 17
?? A bit of a step backwards today. There were 6 new cases of community transmission in NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm, but all are close contacts of the single case in western Sydney reported yesterday. The source of the original case is still under investigation and contract tracing among all new cases is well under way. There was also 3 new cases among the returned overseas travellers in hotel quarantine.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 163 days without a locally-acquired case.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
?? The number of active cases in NSW continues to fall though and is down to 122. Victoria has 30, there are 31 in QLD, 15 in WA, 11 in SA and 14 in the NT. Tasmania and the ACT have zero.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested immediately.
