?? COVID UPDATE - Wednesday January 6
?? There were four new cases of community transmission in the 24 hours to 8pm, and all are in Sydney. Of those, three are linked to Sydney clusters although one of the three had travelled west to Orange and Nyngan while asymptomatic. Testing has been ramped up in those areas. The fourth case is under investigation. There was also 1 new case among the returned overseas travellers.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 152 days without a locally-acquired case.
?? Please also remember that the wearing of masks is now mandatory if you’re visiting most indoor places on the Central Coast or Greater Sydney.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
?? NSW now has 196 active cases (as at 8pm). Victoria has 41, there are 18 in QLD, 15 in WA, 10 in SA and 15 in the NT. Tasmania and the ACT have zero. (All States except NSW include overseas traveller cases in their 'active case' numbers. In NSW, the traveller cases are included in the 'being treated' figure in the graphic below.)
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible

*** I have been asked numerous times about the upcoming A-League match at McDonald Jones Stadium and the risk of people coming to the Hunter for the match from identified COVID hotspots. I wrote to the Minister and staff this morning expressing my concerns and I have just been advised of the following: Venues NSW has advised all patrons from identified hotspots will not be permitted to attend McDonald Jones Stadium. Any tickets purchased already will be refunded

I expect more detail will be widely advertised. G
