All bushfires are now contained

How good is this? I again extend my thanks to our 10 local RFS units and all our emergency services personnel who have worked tirelessly for months.

How good is this? I again extend my thanks to our 10 local RFS units and all our emergency services personnel who have worked tirelessly for months.

Not only that, I want to thank the communities who came out and supported them with food and drinks and comfort as they battled fires locally over the New Year period, and elsewhere throughout the State.

So far this fire season, 25 lives have been lost in NSW, 2439 homes have been destroyed, 5.4 million hectares of NSW bushland has been burnt and an estimated half a billion native animals killed.

Without the efforts of our firefighters, these figures would have been far more catastrophic.

The danger isn't over yet, of course, but thankfully they've got a well-earned break from the weather gods!
