Christine Speer
Since 1955 residents of New South Wales have been able to turn to the State Emergency Service in times of need, whether it's during or after devastating storms, floods or other natural disasters, we all rest a little easier knowing their help is at hand when we need it. I would like to acknowledge the lifetime of dedication the Local Commander of the NSW SES Lake Macquarie City Cluster Christine Speer has given to our community. 67-year-old Christine joined the organisation 42-years ago and has served on the front line during some of our most devastating emergency events, including the 2007 Pasha Bulker storm and the 2017 Lismore Floods. Her unwavering and outstanding service over a prolonged period was recently recognised at the Lake Macquarie and Hunter Coast Cluster Awards, where she was awarded lifetime membership of the NSW SES, and was also presented with her 40-year-service clasp during the ceremony. It's not the first time her efforts have been recognised in 2021, she was named Lake Mac Volunteer of the Year. I thank Christine for everything she has done and continues to do, to keep our community safe.
