Police work is tough at the best of times, and it's all too rare that our boys and girls in blue receive the recognition they so rightly deserve. I congratulate Senior Constable Tony Blyth, from the Lake Macquarie Police District, on being named the 2025 Field Training Assessment Officer of the Year at the NSW Police Trainer of the Year Awards. This honour reflects the significant contribution he has made to the training and development of junior officers. Senior Constable Blyth is known among his colleagues as a true leader. Someone with the experience, knowledge and patience to teach, and who consistently places the success and wellbeing of others ahead of his own. Those who work alongside him describe Senior Constable Blyth as "the best bloke," "a true gentleman," and agree that if we had more people like Tony, "the world would be a better place." I also acknowledge the dedication of the Lake Macquarie Police District Education and Development Officer Team, who were deservedly nominated for EDO Team of the Year. Thank you to Senior Constable Blyth and the entire EDO team for all they do for our community.
