Stephen Hindmarsh
While all teachers are amazing individuals, I make special mention of Stephen Hindmarsh, Head of Secondary at Heritage College Lake Macquarie, who goes above and beyond for his students. Recently Stephen played a pivotal role in helping students to complete the gruelling Action for Agape Ride. The 250 kilometre, five-day mountain bike ride spans from Canberra to Mount Kosciuszko, with competitors raising desperately needed funds for Majimoto Secondary School in Kenya. Stephen prepared and mentored students, ensuring they were physically and mentally ready for this challenge, while instilling values of resilience and service. Beyond this initiative, Stephen is also a passionate educator who dedicates countless hours to supporting HSC wood tech students, even milling timber himself to reduce costs. His commitment extends to coaching and mentoring in Oztag, sprint training, and other sports. A decorated athlete, Stephen recently won multiple gold and silver medals at the NSW and Australian Masters Athletics Championships. His inspiring words "Consistency is the key to success, and discipline is the key to consistency" reflect his unwavering dedication to excellence. Stephen Hindmarsh is a role model, and I commend his outstanding contribution to education and the community.
