To be named Lake Macquarie's Young Ambassador, a young person must demonstrate exceptional leadership, strong values and a genuine commitment to their community. This year, that honour has gone to Shania Aiolupotea. Shania received the Young Ambassador Award at the 2026 Lake Mac Awards in recognition of her outstanding leadership and community contribution through her involvement with the Southlakes Roosters Junior Rugby League Football Club. As the club's female Club Captain, Shania leads both on and off the field. She supports coaches at training, mentors younger players, referees games and regularly steps up to assist volunteers wherever needed. Her positive attitude and willingness to help others has made her a valued role model within the club. Shania's commitment to sport is also reflected in her own playing pathway, including selection in the Central Coast Roosters junior representative squad in the Lisa Fiaola Cup competition. Through her leadership, Shania promotes a respectful, inclusive and supportive sporting culture. She leads with humility and a genuine love for her community. Being named Young Ambassador is a tremendous honour and a fitting recognition of Shania's dedication, leadership and the positive example she sets for other young people in our region.
