Makaylah Fenwick
17-year-old Makaylah Fenwick from Awaba really has secured gold at the end of a rainbow. Makaylah is an extremely talented horse rider, and in January rode her eight-year-old gelding, Rainbow Man, to victory taking out the Off the Track Cup at the Magic Millions Showjumping and Polo event held in Queensland. She secured the top prize after jumping a brilliant double clear on Rainbow Man, a retired racehorse she singlehandedly trained to become a show jumping horse. It's the second time the dynamic team has had a win, after winning the Equimillions in October 2024 in the 90cm class. Makaylah has had back-to-back wins at the Off The Track Cup, last year she won the 120cm class on the back of her thoroughbred Grace and Glory at the EKKA. This competition is for retired thoroughbred racehorses, providing them with a second career for the remainder of their post racing lives. Makaylah is currently working at Kris Lees stables in Newcastle and given her talent, drive and ambition with horses, I'm sure it won't be long until she secures her dream of becoming a professional jockey. Congratulations Makaylah.
