Kifi Hale

For many years, Kifi Hale has been a familiar and welcomed face across Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley and the Central Coast. Kifi is the driving force behind The Heartland Foundation and can often be seen behind the wheel of the charity's refrigerated truck, collecting rescued food, often from Foodbank in Sydney, and delivering it locally to those in need. Kifi founded the charity in August 2018 after witnessing first-hand the number of people across rural and regional New South Wales who were struggling to meet even the most basic needs. He used those experiences to shape the Foundation's focus on reducing poverty and food insecurity by providing food parcels, hygiene products, clothing and other essential items. Through this work, Kifi and his team of volunteers support a wide range of people, operating out of food pantries and mobile locations, so that the team can travel to where they are needed. They have also supported the creation of community food gardens, to help provide fresh produce in food hampers. I would like to thank Kifi and his volunteers for their dedication to both literally and figuratively serving our community.
