Lake Macquarie is stronger when community organisations step up to support and connect local people, and I acknowledge Community Activities Lake Macquarie Inc (CALM), for taking on and reopening the Bonnells Bay Community Centre, a valuable space for our residents. CALM is a long standing, not for profit organisation with a strong track record of supporting families, children, young people and broader community wellbeing across Lake Macquarie. With a mission to empower and connect people, CALM delivers a wide range of services including youth support, early intervention programs, family support, out of school care, parenting programs and referral services that help families thrive. The Bonnells Bay Community Centre is now a welcoming hub where locals can access community activities, playgroups, workshops, meetings and social connection opportunities, meeting a real need in an area. This reopening is a great addition to the excellent services CALM already provides, helping reduce isolation, supporting local families and fostering community spirit. I thank CALM's dedicated team, volunteers and organisers for their commitment. I look forward to seeing the centre become a vibrant, constant asset for Bonnells Bay and the wider Lake Macquarie community.
