  Landcare is a volunteer organisation devoted to caring for the environment in a hands-on and practical way. Landcare is supported by all levels of government and Lake Macquarie City Council is leading the way at the local level. Over 200 Landcare groups work on a wide range of projects around our city. Individuals and groups may work in urban or rural areas, on the coast, by the lake, in the bush, along riparian zones, and even in the Landcare Resource Office.

  Emergency NSW is the public emergency and rescue information website of the NSW Government. This site will provide you with advice and information to prepare for, deal with and recover from an emergency situation.

• Hunter Tenants Advice & Advocacy Service

  Hunter Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service covers the entire Hunter region and offers information advice and advocacy for tenants, residential park residents and boarders and lodgers. They also provide community education to tenants and service providers, on tenants rights and responsibilities.

• Central Coast Tenants Advice & Advocacy Service

  Providing advice to tenants and park residents in the Gosford and Wyong local government areas as well as representation or assistance at hearings of the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal. Advocacy with landlords, agents and social housing providers is also undertaken.

• Department of Disability, Aging and Home Care

  Older people: Information on services, partners and areas of interest for older people. People with a disability: Information on areas of interest for people with a disability including children and young people with a disability. Carers: Information on services, agencies and areas of interest for carers.

  The NSW Department of Community Services (DoCS) promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people and works to build stronger families and communities. We provide child protection services, parenting support and early intervention, foster care, adoption services and help for communities affected by disaster.

• Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC)

  The Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC) is a free legal information service for all members of the community in NSW.

• Hunter Community Legal Centre

  Provides free legal advice and assistance for people in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and the Upper and Lower Hunter regions of New South Wales. Areas covered include domestic violence, credit and debt, family law, victim's compensation and tenancy. Also community development and legal education.

• Central Coast Legal Service (Wyong)

  We are a non-profit community organisation providing free legal advice and services to people on the NSW Central Coast. Based at Wyong, the Central Coast Legal Centre (the Centre) is a member of the National Association of Community Legal Centres.

• Combined Community Legal Centres Group (NSW) Inc

  Community Legal Centres are independent community organisations providing free legal advice and information as well as legal education for individuals and communities across NSW. We promote human rights and advocate for a fair and non-discriminatory legal justice system. There are 39 Community Legal Centres in NSW. Anyone needing legal advice or assistance that cannot afford the services of a private solicitor can contact a CLC. Interpreters can be arranged and all client information is strictly confidential.

  This Guide tells you about the trains, buses, ferres, coaches and taxis that you can use to travel in the Lower Hunter Region. It also includes some advice on walking and cycling, and the benefits of using public transport.

• NSW Ombudsman

  The NSW Ombudsman is an independent and impartial watchdog. Our job is to make sure that the agencies we watch over fulfil their functions properly and improve their delivery of services to the public. We help agencies to be aware of their responsibilities to the public, to act reasonably and to comply with the law and best practice in administration. We are independent of the government of the day and accountable to the public through the NSW Parliament.

• Energy and Water Ombudsman NSW

  EWON provides an independent way of resolving customer complaints about all electricity and gas suppliers in NSW and some water suppliers.

• Insurance Ombudsman Service

  The Insurance Ombudsman Service assists in resolving disputes between consumers and participating companies.

• Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal

  The role of the CTTT is to resolve disputes between tenants, landlords, traders and consumers in a timely and effective manner.

• NSW Office of Fair Trading

  The Office of Fair Trading safeguards consumer rights and advises business and traders on fair and ethical practice. Besides direct services for individuals, the legislative framework we administer sets the rules for fairness in the countless daily transactions between consumers and traders. Unfair practices are investigated and prevented and a licensing system helps ensure unqualified or inappropriate people do not work in a range of NSW industries.
