Morisset Health Facility
The Hunter has lagged behind Sydney in health funding and Lake Macquarie is the most under-served population centre. Distances to the nearest hospitals, John Hunter and Wyong, are excessive and my investigations over the last four years have shown that health planning was based on outdated population data. This is now being updated.
I am pleased to assist the Southlake Integrated Health Care Committee, which has done a great job of documenting the need for better health facilities in Morisset. I arranged a meeting with the Minister for Health early in 2010 to discuss the plan, however there has been no answer given yet and I expect that we will need to meet with a new Minister for Health next year.
