A lot of people having been giving their time to look after our local firefighters.

Lots of others brought donations of water, assorted other drinks, cakes, biscuits and more substantial food to keep the RFS and Fire & Rescue personnel fed, hydrated and comfortable.

I know that they appreciated the huge community effort. Wangi Men’s Shed, Wangi Lions and a host of others including from Westlakes Netball and the rugby club all pitched in with a great effort.

The fire is I understand considered under control but will be monitored overnight with reduced numbers hopefully allowing tired firefighters to get a good sleep.

The risk is certainly there with tomorrow’s looming extreme heat however the firefighters I spoke with are quietly confident that this fire won’t get away again.

Of course, that doesn’t mean we’re safe yet so our emergency services will once again be ready if needed. Hopefully not!

Thanks to all of those who work so hard, often putting themselves in harms way to keep us safe.
