Work to start on new Wangi jetty

It's been a long wait for the Wangi community but I'm pleased to see that Lake Macquarie council will finally begin work on the new jetty near the RSL club on Monday.

Almost $670,000 in State funding was secured in January last year to demolish the old jetty (which was owned by the RSL club), build a new one with several 'pontoon arms', and carry out the required dredging.

The council estimates that the new facilities will be completed early next year, but here's hoping they get favourable weather and are able to get the job done in time for this year's NYE celebrations.
