Construction begins on Wyee Station upgrade

13th June 2019

The project includes three new lifts between the pedestrian footbridge and station platforms, upgrades to the existing pathways and car parks, a new kiss-and-ride space on Gorokan Road, an additional accessible parking space, formalisation of the Wyee Road crossing, a new family accessible toilet, waiting room improvements, new stairs to replace the existing ramp, and upgrades to CCTV, signage and lighting to increase safety.

Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper welcomed the project's commencement on Wednesday.

"I'm very pleased that the NSW government has prioritised and funded this project as part of its commitment to delivering safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure in Lake Macquarie," Mr Piper said.

"This station doesn't just serve the growing population of Wyee, but all those people living in the northern parts of Wyong Shire and on the south-eastern side of Lake Macquarie including Gwandalan, Munmorah, Budgewoi and Blue Haven."

The MP believes the updates will make it easier for elderly and frail people, as well as for parents with prams and those travelling with luggage, to access the station.

The project is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
