Morisset Hall restoration boosted by funding grant

10th September 2018

Two Lake Macquarie projects will share in $51,000 worth of funding from the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.

Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper said the grants will be made to Morisset Hall and Literary Institute and Lake Macquarie City Council for two significant local projects.

“The first grant of $25,000 will be used to determine the extent of work needed to repair and restore Morisset Memorial Hall and Literary Institute,” Mr Piper said.

“There’s been a lot of discussion about the hall’s future, but this money will at least get the ball rolling on future works.

“A second grant of $25,679 will allow the council to continue its war on Crown land weeds on the western side of Lake Macquarie.”

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Scot MacDonald said the program would ensure communities could continue to enjoy local land and facilities.

“This year we’ve made a record investment into Crown lands with more than $20 million in grants being provided across the state.”
